Beaches and waterfront

People come from all over the world to the beaches of Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Fort Myers Beach to collect the wide variety of shells that wash up to the shores. Whether you are on land looking at the water or spending the day on a boat, watching the wildlife (dolphins, grey and white pelicans, eagles, hawks, and more) never gets old. Oh, and the sunsets…are breathtaking!

Shopping

Southwest Florida is lucky to have numerous options for all kinds of shopping. From small business specialty stores with exciting, unique, and fun products with personal touches for everyone, to outlet malls, high end retail malls, and weekly markets. The markets offer fresh produce, delicious fresh food, and homemade goods for your home. The markets are wonderful to pick up local produce, especially in season.

Real estate locations

It doesn’t matter if you want to live in a gated community, an “old-fashioned” neighborhood, or home on the water, southwest Florida offers it all. There is no shortage of golf course communities and most offer various types of memberships. The memberships can range from mandatory, to full (family), to social and while it’s important to know that ahead of time, you also need to know the different fees that fit your budget. Southwest Florida also has plenty of “old-fashioned” neighborhoods without entry gates or association fees. Homes in those neighborhoods can also range from very old to brand new construction and it is good to keep an open mind, because, currently the very old are also being brought into the modern era while keeping their Old Florida charm so the options are endless. Waterfront homes are the most difficult to find simply because it is finite and that tends to drive the prices up and availability can be scarce. Again, if waterfront is your top concern, keep your options open on the location you want to live to give yourself choices.

SWFL ACTIVITIES

There is no shortage of fun things to do all around Southwest Florida. There are weekly farm to table markets, boating, beaches, water sports, land sports, music events, play productions, church events…really anything that does not have to do with snow and/or ice. The best places to find out what’s going on and upcoming are local news-papers (printed or web-based), bulletins, and social media groups advertise their upcoming activities and dates. You should also check with any restaurant or store you enjoy, because you don’t want to miss out anything they may be hosting also.
